# WebP2GIF

> WebP2GIF is a free online WebP image toolkit at https://www.webp2gif.icu. Its main tool converts animated or still WebP images to GIF in the browser, with frame skipping, resizing, quality, playback speed, and background controls. 中文名称：WebP 转 GIF 在线转换器。

Image conversion runs locally in the user's browser; selected image files are not uploaded to a conversion server. The tools can be used without creating an account or installing an application. A modern browser is required, and large images or animations are subject to browser memory and processing limits.

The main WebP-to-GIF converter supports multiple input files, preview, individual GIF downloads, and a ZIP download of batch results. Its controls include:

- Frame skipping: retain one frame out of every 1–6 source frames. The label "smart frame skipping" refers to fixed-interval sampling. The WebAssembly converter combines the actual durations of skipped frames to retain the selected playback speed.
- Scale: 10%–200% of the original dimensions.
- Quality: a sampling factor from 1–100, with lower values sampling more pixels; default 10. It is not a quality percentage, and file size depends on image content.
- Playback speed: 0.5×–3×; default 1×.
- Background: transparent, white, or black. GIF uses a limited color palette and binary transparency, so it cannot preserve all WebP colors or partial alpha values.

PNG, JPG, AVIF, WebP compression, and batch PNG/JPG tools use a still-image conversion path; they do not preserve WebP animation. AVIF output depends on browser encoding support. Compression and frame skipping do not guarantee a particular file size or percentage reduction.

English pages use `/en/`; Simplified Chinese pages use `/zh-CN/`. The localized pages describe the same tools. Other supported language prefixes are `/zh-TW/`, `/ja/`, `/ko/`, `/es/`, `/fr/`, `/de/`, `/it/`, `/pt/`, `/ru/`, `/id/`, and `/vi/`.
